In the December survey on cryptocurrency perceptions, 3,144 adult US residents participated.
As the illustration below shows, four years or more of crypto-investing experience was reported by only 9% of respondents. 12% of them began trading two to four years ago, one in five (21%) — one to two years ago.
41% of respondents had encountered digital assets in practice less than six months ago, 27% — in the first half of 2021.

46% of respondents said their crypto assets did not exceed $1,000, 25% of others invested the equivalent of $1,000–$10,000.
The study identified barriers to investment. 44% attributed small investments to a lack of sufficient knowledge, 34% mentioned the lack of market regulation, and only 24% of respondents noted a shortage of sufficient capital.
According to the report, 28% of respondents at the time of the interview held a portion of their capital in cryptocurrencies. Almost a quarter said they planned to realise this in the future.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao predicted explosive growth in cryptocurrency adoption in 2022.
