Survey finds 85% of institutional Bitcoin holders plan to boost crypto investments

A survey by Nickel Digital, a crypto fund, showed that 40% of institutional investors and asset managers who hold cryptocurrencies bought Bitcoin to hedge against inflation. Decrypt reports.

According to the survey, more than 85% of digital-asset holders plan to increase their investments in cryptocurrencies over the next two years. 56% expect a modest rise in Bitcoin, and 21% expect further upside in the asset in 2021.

“There is growing optimism about improvements in the sector’s infrastructure. This will lead to more major investors entering the market,” said Anatoly Krachilov, CEO of Nickel Digital.

According to the executive, Bitcoin will maintain high volatility. He described the trend as “expected for a new technology at an early stage of adoption”.

“Price movements for such assets should never go in a straight line. Only professional investors with a long-term position should have access to this asset class,” added Krachilov.

Nickel Digital’s co-founder is confident that cryptocurrency investors should be prepared for high risk.

The survey involved 50 institutional investors and 50 asset managers with a combined $110 billion in assets under management from Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States in January 2021.

As reported in a recent US poll, retail investors believe Cardano more than Bitcoin. The altcoin was supported by 31.8% of respondents compared with 22.2% for digital gold.

Earlier, a Goldman Sachs survey showed that 40% of the bank’s clients own cryptocurrency. Of them, more than 60% expect asset growth over the next 12–24 months.
