
Survey finds half of Russians prepared to use the digital ruble, 22% firmly opposed
Half of Russia’s residents are prepared to use the central bank’s digital ruble, while 22% are firmly opposed. The findings come from a survey by the Centre for Research on Financial Technologies and the Digital Economy at SKOLKOVO-RESH, reported by TASS.
Precisely 14% say they intend to use the digital ruble, with a further 36% saying they would probably want to.
Thirty-eight percent are negative towards it, of whom 22% said they would definitely not use the digital ruble.
The survey was conducted among 1,600 people in 140 localities across 70 regions of Russia.
The Bank of Russia noted that transfers of digital rubles between individuals in Russia are planned to be free, while a fee may be charged for payments for goods, analogous to the charges currently in the Faster Payments System.
