Telegram developers have released a significant update, enabling mini-apps to operate in full-screen mode, feature icons on the home screen, access geolocation, and more.
These apps can now utilize full-screen mode in either vertical or horizontal orientation.
They can send accumulated stars (Telegram Stars) as gifts, for instance, for achievements in games. Privacy settings allow users to manage this option through their profile.
Telegram Premium users can set emoji statuses via mini-apps to reflect their current activity. Integration with other services’ API will enable automatic status updates when switching activities, such as listening to music, reading a book, or watching a film.
There is also the ability to share media files directly from games and other bot programs.
“This feature makes it convenient to send referral codes, generated memes, and much more in any chat,” explained the Telegram team.
Additionally, apps can now generate documents and files for download, including photos and audio messages.
For monetizing projects, developers can offer paid subscriptions for stars with various tariff levels and access. Other options include customizing the loading screen and obtaining user device information.
“The first implementations of some of the new features can already be tried in apps like Playdeck, Tiny Verse, and Major,” noted the messenger team.
Earlier in November, Telegram introduced faster loading and improved video quality, along with several other enhancements.
