Key changes in Florence:
\n\n\n\n
- The maximum operation size increased from 16 to 32 kilobytes. The smart contract size has doubled — developers can create more complex applications;
- Gas consumption optimization. The platform executes complex smart contracts at lower costs;
- Change in the ordering of links between smart contracts. Previously interactions between them followed a breadth-first pattern [first in — first out], now a depth-first [first in — last out]; Developers find it easier to design the relationships between smart contracts.
- Change to the patching process. The upgrade disabled the test-network feature in the Tezos economic protocol. In practice, it was never used.

In February 2021 the platform activated the EDO update. Tezos implemented the Sapling library from Zcash.

In April, the gaming giant Ubisoft became a corporate validator of the Tezos network.
\n\n\n\n
Earlier in the same month, the conglomerate Societe Generale issued securities on the Tezos blockchain.
