The number of people awaiting Robinhood’s crypto wallet launch has surpassed one million
More than a million users of the online broker Robinhood have joined the waiting list for the developing crypto wallet. The company’s CEO Vlad Tenev said this at the Disruptor 50 CNBC summit.
In September ForkLog reported that testing of functionality starts in October. According to developers, it will resemble Web 3.0 browsers. The deployment of the feature for all clients is planned to be completed in 2022.
Wallets will allow users to trade, send and receive cryptocurrencies within the app. At present, users can only buy and sell digital assets for fiat.
“We will allow extracting additional value from the coins at their disposal. You will have the ability to send cryptocurrencies from wallet to wallet. The technology has advantages that make it global and available by default. Digital assets have without a doubt established themselves as an asset class. The ease of use and the global nature have made them attractive to many,” — said Tenev.
Crypto wallets are expected to include security features such as identity verification, email and phone verification, and multi-factor authentication.
Earlier CEO Robinhood called cryptocurrencies the foundation of Robinhood’s future development Robinhood.
As of the second quarter, the share of trading digital assets in the company’s revenue rose to 41% ($233 million) from 17% ($88 million) for January–March. The company will report its financial results for July–September on October 22.
