The Sandbox’s virtual world allows users to monetize their playtime under a Play-to-Earn model. Players can buy land, create in-game non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and earn SAND tokens by completing various quests.
During the Sandbox Alpha event, users will have the opportunity to explore the project’s metaverse for the first time across 18 stages, ending December 20.
Participants in Sandbox Alpha will be able to earn up to 1,000 SAND and receive one of three exclusive NFTs as a reward.
The number of participants is capped at 5,000 players, and entry can be gained through three paths.
1,000 Alpha Pass tickets in NFT form will be drawn among landowners in the Sandbox world. Another 2,250 invitations will be distributed to users during a three-week period for taking part in platform competitions. After November 29, Alpha Passes will be available on the secondary market via the OpenSea marketplace.
Against the backdrop of the announcement, the SAND token hit an all-time high of $3.63, according to CoinGecko.
At the time of writing, the coin was trading around $3.25.
Earlier in November, The Sandbox raised $93 million to build the metaverse.
