Tomsk mayor's office receives sketch of Bitcoin monument

A resident of Tomsk, Valeria Soboleva, has approached the mayor’s office with a proposal to install a monument to the “Lost Bitcoin”.

The monument, up to 1 metre in diameter, will be gilded with 585-fine gold and placed behind bulletproof glass. The funds for its creation will be provided by LLC Crypto Consulting.

With the installation of the monument, I want to draw attention to the problem of financial education among young people and investors. Each year, users lose up to 25% of the Bitcoin they produce. I ask that the installation of the ‘Lost Bitcoin’ monument be considered as a symbol of the world’s most valuable asset that has been lost,” the project author wrote on Instagram.

If the layout is approved, the monument will be installed on 8 March on Novosobornaya Square in Tomsk.

In September 2018 Kyiv unveiled a virtual monument to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

In July 2017 street artists in Yekaterinburg turned a ball near the Drama Theatre into a Bitcoin monument.
