TRON Foundation apologises for overstating its user base

TRON Foundation apologised for the claim that its number of users had exceeded the world’s population.

On 19 September, TRON founder Justin Sun posted the following message on Twitter (now deleted):

“The number of #TRON users exceeded 10 billion! The next target is 100 billion.”

This news provoked equal parts confusion and amusement in the community, given that the Earth’s population has not yet reached 8 billion.

The original tweet appeared in TRON profiles in several languages. It can still be found on the Vietnamese Twitter account of TRON Foundation.

As expected, the claims were ridiculed by members of the bitcoin industry.

Most people treated the claim as a joke.

Subsequently, the TRON Foundation published a post apologising. The author of the erroneous tweet had accidentally swapped ‘M’ for ‘B’, which led to the confusion.

(1/7) #TRON noticed that a message was circulating today on Twitter claiming “TRON Users exceeded 10B” in English. TRON prompted an immediate investigation.

Earlier, TRON founder Justin Sun said he was prepared to hire a troll to promote TRX.
