U.S. Senator Ted Cruz discloses Bitcoin investment

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz has filed a new financial disclosure revealing the acquisition of his first cryptocurrency on January 25, 2022.

According to the disclosure, he invested in bitcoin from $15,001 to $50,000 using River. On the purchase day the price of digital gold was around $36,000–$37,000, according to CoinGecko.

At the time of writing, the first cryptocurrency is trading at around $41,455.

Earlier, during the consideration of the infrastructure plan in 2021, Cruz proposed using energy generated from oil and gas production for Bitcoin mining. In his view, this would help preserve the environment, and the approach could be applied worldwide.
