Ukraine, Chainalysis and the United States begin tracking Russians’ sanctions evasion

The Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation division (IRS-CI) announced cooperation with Ukrainian law enforcement and the analytics firm Chainalysis to track Russians evading sanctions using cryptocurrencies. Bloomberg reported this.

According to the agency, information sharing between the United States and Ukraine enables more thorough identification of cases of concealment of digital assets by the Russian authorities.

The IRS sponsors Ukrainian investigators’ access to the Chainalysis tool, which helps analyse cryptocurrency transactions. It also offers online and offline training sessions for law enforcement to improve blockchain-analysis skills.

Earlier, ForkLog reported that the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Security Division began investigation into the parent company Binance Holdings Ltd. regarding possible sanctions violations against Russia.
