Ukraine identifies suspects in the sale of USB drives carrying malware to hack Bitcoin wallets

The Security Service of Ukraine said it had identified criminals who laundered funds for hackers and sold USB drives containing malware to breach cryptocurrency wallets.

The suspects operated on the dark web and organised a large-scale scheme to launder funds obtained illegally. Their clients were hackers from around the world who stole money and wished to cash it out.

In addition, the criminals sold USB flash drives containing malicious software. Using them, scammers hacked victims’ wallets and stole cryptocurrency.

The suspects were detected in Mykolaiv as part of a joint operation with U.S. law enforcement.

Earlier in October, Ukrainian cyberpolice identified the perpetrators, who were behind the distribution of ransomware.
