Ukraine launches platform to detect crypto wallets linked to crime.

The team behind the decentralized security protocol HAPI has unveiled a beta version of the Scamfari OSINT platform to collect information on cryptocurrency wallets linked to fraud, sanctions violations, terrorism financing, and other crimes.

The project was supported by Cyberpolice of Ukraine, which will work on blocking such addresses.

User registration takes place via a Telegram bot, after which they complete a form and send analysts a wallet confirming its use in criminal activity.

HAPI staff manually verify these data. If the information is confirmed, informants receive rewards in the project’s native tokens. In the future, reward distribution is planned to be automated via smart contracts. Also discussed is the possibility of transitioning from the HAPI token to a stablecoin.

According to the project’s analysts, since Scamfari OSINT’s launch they have collected more than 15,000 addresses, including wallets used to donate to Russian mercenaries fighting in Ukraine.

In the future, HAPI has not ruled out using AI to automate the verification of reports.

“We are currently uploading the reports we receive to GPT-4 — at the moment it looks very raw, but promising. In the near future this could be useful,” the project team told CoinDesk in a commentary.

In the summer of 2022, with the participation of Ukraine’s cyberpolice, HAPI Labs analysts managed to block dozens of cryptocurrency accounts for aiding Russian military aggression.
