Since the beginning of 2022, Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have closed investigations into more than 600 cryptocurrency-related cases. This сообщил the head of the Operational-Analytical Support and Open-Source Analysis Department of the Cyber Police, Yevhen Panchenko.
In most cases, criminals used digital assets to launder criminal proceeds and trade illegal goods on the dark web.
“Cryptocurrency offers significant opportunities for the development of the economy; however, criminals also make good use of the advantages of this instrument,” Panchenko said.
A representative of the Cyber Police, among others, took part in the OSCE and UNODC seminar.
Organisations launched a project under which law enforcement officers will be able to access the necessary tools for financial monitoring and investigations of offences related to digital assets.
Earlier, the AML adviser to the OSCE and UNODC, Tatiana Dmitrenko, shared with ForkLog UA details of this initiative.
