Uniswap Integrates Sony’s Soneium Network

Leading non-custodial exchange Uniswap has added support for the L2 solution Soneium, developed by the blockchain division of the Japanese corporation Sony.

“You can conduct swap and cross-chain operations, as well as provide liquidity directly from the Uniswap web app and the latest version of the wallet,” wrote representatives of the DEX.

According to them, Soneium is tailored for media content creation and on-chain monetization.

The animated image below demonstrates the process of selecting a network:

Built using OP Stack and Superchain tools from Optimism, the L2 solution on Ethereum is conceived as a “general-purpose network” for a financial and entertainment application ecosystem.

The developers — Sony BSL — are a joint blockchain project of Sony Group and the Singaporean Web3 company Startale Labs.

In late August 2024, the team launched the Soneium Minato testnet with technical support from Optimism Foundation, Circle, Alchemy, The Graph, and Chainlink. Concurrently, they initiated the Soneium Spark application developer incubator program.

Alongside Soneium, Sony BSL released an updated version of the cryptocurrency exchange S.BLOX — a rebranding and refinement of the WhaleFin trading platform. Sony Group acquired WhaleFin in August 2023.

Earlier, users accused Soneium developers of blocking some tokens and zeroing investor accounts on the project’s launch day.
