Uniswap Labs blocks sanctioned addresses at the frontend level

Uniswap Labs, the team behind the leading Ethereum exchange Uniswap, began blocking at the frontend level addresses associated with illicit activity.

Blockchain data monitoring is implemented in collaboration with the TRM Labs platform. The latter labels crypto wallets that may be linked to hacker attacks, fraud, financing of terrorism, ransomware, human trafficking, as well as sanctioned addresses.

\”Uniswap Labs’ policy is aimed at preventing the use of our app by people engaged in illegal activity,\” the FAQ on the company’s site says.

As of writing, the number of blocked addresses is unknown.

Earlier, the Ethereum mixer Tornado Cash began blocking addresses, that were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.
