Uniswap users back protocol deployment on zkSync layer-2
The Uniswap community поддержало deployment of the protocol’s third version on the layer-2 solution zkSync to scale Ethereum.
Nearly 100% of Uniswap participants voted in favour of the proposal, put forward by the Layer-2 network developer Matter Labs, which locked 720 million UNI tokens.
“Deployment on zkSync will attract new users and grow Uniswap’s user base, reducing costs relative to Ethereum without compromising security,” the proposal states.
Matter Labs said they have more than 100 projects, including leading DeFi protocols, ready to launch on the mainnet. The mainnet launch is expected in October.
EVM-compatible network built on the zero-knowledge proof protocol and uses the ZK-Rollups technology.
According to the statement, Uniswap deployment could follow within four-to-six weeks after the zkSync mainnet launch.
“As an open-source project, zkSync shares Ethereum’s ideals of personal sovereignty, decentralisation, and ownership in the hands of the community,” the developers said.
They noted that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin назвал технологию ZK-Rollups central to blockchain scalability.
Earlier, the Matter Labs team announced Pathfinder, the public third-layer testnet Pathfinder in Q1 2023.
