An unknown attacker used a phishing link to steal three NFTs from Animoca Brands co-founder's son.

An unknown attacker used a phishing link to steal three non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The victim was the underage son of Animoca Brands’ co-founder and chairman, Yat Siu.

According to Siu, the attacker contacted his son via Discord regarding the NFT avatar CloneX #2385 from the RTFKT Studios. He declined to conduct the deal through the OpenSea marketplace and suggested using Sudoswap after dropping the phishing link.

The Animoca Brands co-founder noted that it looked legitimate, “if not for one tiny detail (.id).”

As a result, the unknown attacker managed to steal three NFTs from Siu’s son’s cold wallet. The tokens are two Mutant Ape Yacht Club tokens (#2568 and #24112) and CloneX #2385. At the time of writing, their total value exceeds $67,000.

Siu said he shared the story to improve safety for other community members.

\u201cMore knowledge and awareness will make our ecosystem safer and stronger,\u201d he wrote.

On January 24, details emerged about a vulnerability in OpenSea that allowed expensive tokens to be bought at undervalued prices. Its exploitation earned the user 347 ETH.
