US authorities offer developers $25,000 to design a digital-wallet user interface
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has invited external developers to design the user interface of a digital wallet. The prize fund for the contest is $25,000, reports CoinDesk.
The winner will be selected by the department’s Office of Science and Technology. The competition program manager, Kathleen Kenyon, noted that the unit is understaffed due to workload.
Participants are to develop a graphic design suitable for DHS goals in blockchain and decentralized identity. The designs should be user-friendly, visually cohesive, secure and confidential.
Submissions close on 15 October. The first-stage finalists will be named on 27 October, with final results due in December. Three finalists will each receive $5,000, and the winner $10,000. The best designs will be incorporated into DHS’s blockchain-project portfolio.
Earlier, the IRS proposed $625,000 to a contractor who could defeat the privacy of Monero and similar cryptocurrencies.
Earlier, the IRS signed a contract with Blockchain Analytics and Tax Software for $249.9 thousand. Its task is to expand tools for tracking cryptocurrency transactions.
