US Presidential Candidate Proposes Moving Federal Budget to Blockchain

US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has proposed transferring the federal budget to blockchain to enhance transparency.

He explained his initiative as an effort to allow any citizen to “see every item at any time, 24 hours a day.”

“We’re going to have 300 million eyes on our budget. If someone spends $16,000 on a toilet seat, everyone will know about it,” he stated.

The community largely supported Kennedy’s proposal, with some noting the potential to reduce misallocation of funds.

“Checks and balances in our government don’t work if branches of power are colluding in corruption (especially the President and Congress). It’s time to hold them accountable,” wrote one user.

Others saw Kennedy Jr.’s blockchain remarks as an attempt to create a digital dollar.

In November 2023, the politician described Bitcoin as a response to the threat of CBDCs, calling it an “elegant solution” for transactional freedom.

Earlier, Kennedy Jr. highlighted digital gold as an alternative to the traditional financial system and criticized US regulators for a “war on cryptocurrencies” that led to a banking crisis in the country.

Back in October 2023, the politician declared his intention to protect Bitcoin if elected president, calling it the “currency of freedom.”
