New US Senator and Bitcoin advocate Cynthia Lummis plans to take the discussion of the first cryptocurrency to the national level. The politician said this in an interview with ABC News.
Lummis served in Wyoming’s state legislature, where she held the office of treasurer. She noted that she has always sought a “good store of value,” and Bitcoin fits that description.
According to the senator, the dollar is inflation-prone, unlike the digital asset.
“There will be 21 million bitcoins mined and that is all; this is a capped supply. Therefore I am confident that it will become an important store of value over the long term,” Lummis said.
She did not comment on the suggestion that cryptocurrency could be used for money laundering or tax evasion.
Cynthia Lummis became the first woman senator from Wyoming, and one of the few senior supporters of the first cryptocurrency in the Senate.
Earlier at the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede conference, she told that she first bought bitcoin in 2013 at around $300.
