User Pays $17,500 Fee for 1.34 BTC Transfer

On April 19, an unknown wallet transferred 1.34 BTC (approximately $87,000 at the time of the transaction), incurring a fee of $17,500.

The transaction rate was 105,305 sat/vB, indicating the user overpaid by roughly 1,269 times.

The block containing the transaction was confirmed by a miner from the ViaBTC pool.

On April 18, another investor spent $13,250 on fees for transferring 0.58 BTC (around $37,800).

With a rate of 133,337 sat/vB, this overpayment amounted to x2186. This transaction was verified by a miner from the Foundry USA pool.

In January, an unknown individual paid a fee of 4.03 BTC ($173,148) for a single Bitcoin transaction, which amounted to only 2.9 BTC.

On November 23, a user transferring 55.77 BTC ($2.1 million) spent a record 83.65 BTC ($3.1 million) on fees. The sender, under the pseudonym 83_5BTC, claimed to be a victim of a hacking attack.

The AntPool expressed willingness to return the fee upon confirmation of the user’s identity.

In April 2024, the average transaction fee in the Bitcoin network (7DMA) exceeded $16 amid the excitement surrounding Runes.
