Verkhovna Rada committee recommends adopting updated law on virtual assets

On October 29, the Committee on Digital Transformation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine discussed amendments to the law “On Virtual Assets,” which had previously been vetoed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Following the discussion, the committee backed and recommended adopting the law.

ForkLog sought comment from the committee’s deputy chair Yegor Chernev, but did not receive an immediate response.

Update:

A reconsideration of the document will take place by November 5 at an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

If lawmakers approve the updated law, the president, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, would be obliged to sign it within ten days.

As reported earlier, on September 8 the Verkhovna Rada adopted in second reading and in full the law “On Virtual Assets”.

However, at the beginning of October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vetoed the document and demanded revisions to take into account his proposals concerning regulators of the virtual assets market.

ForkLog has detailed the reasons behind such a decision.
