In the project’s Discord-канале Hofmann said that Supdrive is aimed at \”arcade-style video games in the spirit of old-school\” such as Galaga, Pac-Man and Asteroids. The launch of the blockchain console is scheduled for October 2021.

«As firmware updates roll out, the games will become more complex. Perhaps one day we will see Super Supdrive or Supdrive 64», wrote the project’s head.

The first game for Supdrive is called Origin. It is being developed by Hofmann himself. If things go well, he plans to launch a platform where external teams can publish their own projects for the console.

Because the Supdrive cartridges will be issued as NFTs, their supply is limited. In conversation with The Verge, Hofmann noted that each copy of the game will be unique — users will receive different cosmetic configurations and even levels of difficulty.

According to the project\’s founder, Supdrive is similar to the Art Blocks platform, which allows the creation of programs for the procedural generation of NFTs.

As a reminder, in August the daily active users of the NFT game Axie Infinity exceeded 1 million.
