The payments giant Visa has launched an educational programme to develop a business around non-fungible tokens (NFTs). About this, пишет The Block.
The initiative is planned to run for a year and targets artists, musicians, fashion designers and filmmakers.
Visa’s head of cryptography, Kyu Sheffield, said the company hopes to understand the prospects and challenges creators face and to study the role that NFTs could play in monetising their work.
Ultimately, the programme will help Visa develop its own commercial NFT products.
Visa has not yet decided how many authors it intends to train under the programme. However Sheffield expects the group to be small to foster a community and provide technical mentoring.
Interested authors will have to fill out a questionnaire and undergo a personal interview.
Visa will also provide the authors with a one-off stipend; the amount is not disclosed.
Earlier in October 2021, Visa, in collaboration with artist Mika Joneson, announced plans to create educational project, which would help digital-art creators learn about the potential of NFTs.
In December, the company announced the launch of a new consulting division on cryptocurrency.
The firm is also developing products aimed at stablecoins and CBDC.
