Vitalik Buterin Receives Taiwan Employment Gold Card

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has received Taiwan’s “Gold Card,” granting unhindered entry to the country and the right to stay there for more than 180 days.

“I have visited Taiwan many times, and I have enjoyed it every time. There is a large Ethereum community here. With the Gold Card, it will be easier for me to visit here,” he said.

Audrey Tang, the Minister of Digital Affairs, gave Buterin Kuai Kuai snacks. Locals believe this snack helps ensure flawless operation of equipment. The minister and Ethereum co-founder also sang an old Taiwanese song.

Taiwan launched the “Gold Cards” in 2018. They allow staying on the island for up to three years and engaging in work. The initiative aims to attract highly skilled professionals in priority sectors for the country.

Buterin was born in Kolomna, Russia. At six he moved to Canada, where he grew up and obtained citizenship. In May 2021, as Ethereum topped $3,000, made the project’s co-founder a billionaire. In December of the same year, Forbes included Buterin in the “30 Under 30” list.

Earlier in April 2022, the Montenegrin authorities granted Buterin citizenship.
