Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold his ETH holdings when the price of the cryptocurrency was around $700. He said this during a discussion on Twitter.

A Bitcoin enthusiast under the pseudonym American.HODL suggested that all ETH holders also own BTC, but not the other way around.

Another user under the handle Andrewstotle added that even Vitalik Buterin holds hundreds of bitcoins and uses them for transactions. At that point the co-founder of the cryptocurrency joined the discussion himself.

“Wait, what? I mainly use dollars (or the local currency where I happen to be at any given moment) for calculations,” he wrote.

Developer and Bitcoin maximalist under the pseudonym WizardofAus.Hodl expressed confidence that Buterin sold his ETH at a price above $1,000, after which he converted them into Bitcoin rather than rubles and dollars.
\n
Buterin replied that he did indeed liquidate his cryptocurrency holdings for dollars, but at a market price around $700. Some ETH he donated to charity.

*I* sold ETH at ~$700, or about half the top (actually, both sold and donated). The *ethereum foundation* sold at ~$1200, and that money has gone into devs and grants since then.

Buterin added that he has not bought any Bitcoin since 2017.
