Woman in Sverdlovsk Oblast loses 800,000 rubles to cryptocurrency scammers

A woman from Kachkanar became a victim of criminals, losing a total of 800,000 rubles. She was promised earnings from cryptocurrency trading, according to the Sverdlovsk Region Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).

According to the victim, in November she was contacted by phone and offered to buy cryptocurrency for ‘remote earnings’. On the same day she sent part of the funds. Later the victim received money allegedly earned by her.

To withdraw the funds, she was advised to take out several loans, citing penalties from the trading platform. The victim took out loans totaling 380 000 rubles. When she refused to take another, the criminals stopped contacting her.

The police have opened a criminal case for fraud.

Earlier, a resident of Uzbekistan lost more than 1 million rubles in an attempt to earn money from cryptocurrencies.
