World Unveils Chat with Cryptocurrency Transfer Feature

The World project (formerly Worldcoin) by Sam Altman has launched the World Chat application, enabling communication and cryptocurrency transfers.

The chat operates on the World Network and is available in beta version.

The application supports end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy. With the integration of the World ID protocol, users can always verify they are communicating with a verified individual.

The built-in World App wallet allows for sending and receiving cryptocurrency “as easily as sharing photos.” According to the statement, the solution has approximately 24 million users, with over 11 million having verified their identity.

Developers can embed World Chat into their applications, “enhancing interaction capabilities.” In January, the project launched the World Build incubator, offering practical support and mentorship. Partners for the first round of the initiative included Alchemy, Bain Crypto Capital, Blockchain Capital, and Variant Fund.

The price of the Worldcoin (WLD) token has fallen by 4.5% in the past day amid a broader market correction. The coin is trading around $0.95—92% below its all-time high recorded in March 2024 (CoinGecko).

Authorities in the UK, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Singapore, and Kenya have shown interest in World’s activities regarding the collection of citizens’ biometric data. In January, Brazil’s regulator blocked payments for user verification by the project.
