Company representatives noted that the platform managed to reach the second million in half the time it took to reach the first. World ID remains in beta testing. On average, around 40,000 people register weekly in the protocol.

Worldcoin says that such influx of users was achieved thanks to the world tour. As part of the PR campaign, the project launched a service for identity verification and financial transactions in Germany in partnership with Auth0.

German citizens gained access to World ID and the Sign in with Worldcoin tool — a multi-functional authentication system for apps and websites.

The company has also begun producing Orb biometric-visualization devices for iris scanning. Verification using the tool is available in Germany, Argentina, India, Spain, Kenya, Portugal and Chile.

The flagship Worldcoin product is based on zero-knowledge proofs. It is a mobile tool that enables people to undergo identity verification while preserving anonymity. In addition to biometric data, users can also use a regular phone number to verify their identity.

In May, Chinese users without access to the app began buying biometric data from third parties in African countries to obtain signup bonuses. The company pledged to take the necessary measures to combat the black market.

In the same month, the Tools for Humanity team, which includes Worldcoin developers, raised $115 million in an investment round.
