Yakutsk resident loses 3 million rubles to cryptocurrency investment scam

A 31-year-old resident of Yakutsk fell victim to fraudulent brokers who offered him a way to earn from cryptocurrencies. The local Ministry of Internal Affairs reports this.

The victim saw an advertisement for an investment campaign on social media and left his number on the site. Soon a woman called him, introducing herself as an employee of the company. She said that earnings come from successful cryptocurrency buy-sell trades.

In total, the ‘investor’ transferred 3.1 million rubles to the scammers’ account.

The Russian realized he was dealing with scammers when an ’employee of the financial department’ informed him of a problem with withdrawing funds due to ‘insufficient card turnover’ and asked for more money.

The police opened a criminal case.

Earlier in June, a Yakutsk resident lost more than 200,000 rubles attempting to invest in cryptocurrencies.
