A 34-year-old resident of Yaroslavl has been found guilty of stealing mining equipment worth more than 1.6 million rubles. The regional prosecutor’s office says.

According to the case materials, in February 2021 the defendant broke into a friend’s garage, where operating cryptocurrency-mining equipment was located.

Subsequently he attempted to mine on his own, but failed to set up the equipment. The property was returned to the victim.

The offender fully admitted guilt and expressed remorse. The Zavolzhsky District Court sentenced him to a three-year suspended sentence with a three-year probationary period.

Earlier, three residents of Kursk stole 30 graphics cards for cryptocurrency mining from their neighbor’s apartment.
