Zcash developers unveil Halo 2: a new version of zero-knowledge proofs
The Electric Coin Company (ECC), behind the development of the Zcash cryptocurrency, has released the Halo 2 source code — an updated, more efficient version of zero-knowledge proofs.
Today we released the source code we’re working on for Halo 2, a recursive proof composition that improves efficiency and eliminates the need for a trusted setup.https://t.co/xjIwR5rRPy#Zcash $ZEC

Halo 2 can significantly speed up transactions by reducing the amount of computation, and also enable the creation of verifiable distributed systems and scalable blockchains without the need for a trusted setup.
“This will also lay the groundwork for future support for recursive proofs to back Layer 1 scaling solutions,” the statement said.
Halo 2 was developed in collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation. ECC intends to complete the update in 2021.
“In the coming months we will allocate significant resources to research and development, business development, marketing, and third‑party support to ensure the safe and reliable development of Halo 2. Ultimately, the decision whether Halo 2 will become part of Zcash will be made by the Zcash community.”
