The founder of Zerebro, Jeffy Yu, was found alive at his parents’ home three days after a video of his “suicide” was released. This was reported by the San Francisco Standard.
The fake death of the 22-year-old creator of Legacoin (LLJEFFY) triggered a 2115% surge in the meme coin’s value, with its market capitalization soaring to $105 million.
Earlier reports stated that he had taken his own life during a live stream on Pump.fun on May 4.
The video was removed, but it was followed by a pre-scheduled post with Yu’s musings on fame and Legacoin. This caused a frenzy: within a day, the price of LLJEFFY increased twentyfold.
The crash began when investors noticed activity in the developer’s wallet, which was buying tokens even after his “death.”
Within an hour, the market capitalization plummeted from $105 million to $13.8 million. At the time of writing, the figure stands at $1.8 million, according to DEX Screener.
On May 7, journalists from the San Francisco Standard found Yu at his parents’ house. The developer claimed to be a victim of harassment and asked the reporter to leave:
“Can’t you see the post-traumatic stress disorder in my eyes? Now my parents will have to move.”
The San Francisco and San Mateo coroners’ offices confirmed that since April 2, no deaths with the surname Yu have been recorded in the region.
An obituary on Legacy.com, which described him as a “Stanford prodigy” who created the $800 million Zerebro ecosystem, was later removed.
Back in November 2024, Pump․fun halted live streaming on the platform, and in April 2025, it reopened access to streaming for all users.
