
Ziggy ransomware operator to reimburse victims
The Ziggy ransomware operator has stated that he is prepared to reimburse victims harmed by his malware and who paid the ransom. reports BleepingComputer.
To reimburse the funds, users are asked to email Ziggy with proof of the ransom payment and the computer’s identifier. Within two weeks, the money will be deposited into a cryptocurrency wallet.

A Ziggy group spokesperson clarified that payouts will be made in bitcoin at the rate on the day of the payment. During the malware’s active period, the price of Bitcoin was about $39,000, and is now around $58,000.
According to the ransomware creator, to reimburse the funds he had to sell his house. In the future, he plans to join white-hat hackers and fight cybercriminals.
Earlier in February, the Ziggy announced the cessation of the malware’s activity and posted keys to decrypt infected files. The hacker attributed the decision to concerns over the arrest of the Emotet and Netwalker ransomware developers.
