NFT sales hit $2.5 billion in first half of 2021

Since the start of 2021, the volume of non-fungible token (NFT) sales has reached $2.5 billion. Reuters reports, citing data from the analytics platform DappRadar.

For all of 2020, NFT sales totaled about $95 million, roughly 26 times lower than the first half of 2021.

According to NonFungible, weekly figures remain high — 10,000 to 20,000 tokens sold on the Ethereum blockchain.

Monthly sales on the NFT marketplace OpenSea reached a record high in June — about $150 million.

Earlier, Psyops Capital called the NFT market correction a ‘soft crash’. He said that due to the market’s low liquidity, sellers struggle to gauge buyer sentiment, and therefore the price of their asset may unexpectedly be far below the purchase price.

In June, NFT sales fell by about twentyfold.
