Nokia Files Patent for Digital Asset Encryption Module
The telecommunications giant Nokia has filed a patent application in China for a device and software designed to encrypt digital assets for consumer equipment.
According to documents submitted to the National Intellectual Property Administration of China, the module employs a system of keys, indices, and subscriber identifiers. Some of this information is publicly accessible.
The device is intended for use across all types of wired and wireless communications, including mobile. The set of components and methods used for encryption may vary depending on the communication technology.
In examples of implementing digital asset encryption functions, the company mentioned the metaverse. Nokia’s website features an extensive page dedicated to virtual worlds. Regarding the use of technology in its own business, it states:
“For communication service providers, the metaverse offers potentially new opportunities for consumer and enterprise services, requirements for network infrastructure upgrades and bandwidth, as well as opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.”
Back in 2021, the Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei announced its entry into the metaverse market.
