Nomad Protocol Hacker Transfers 14,500 ETH to Tornado Cash

A wallet linked to the breach of the cross-chain protocol Nomad has moved 14,500 ETH ($35.2 million) to the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, as noted by analysts at PeckShield.

The previous movement of stolen funds was observed on August 5. At that time, the wallet sent 39.75 million DAI and 17.75 ETH to an intermediary address. It then swapped the DAI for 16,890 ETH and, along with 2,400 ETH from the second amount, transferred them to Tornado Cash.

The perpetrator is likely seeking ways to cash out the funds.

Back in August 2022, the cross-chain protocol Nomad fell victim to a hacking attack. Analysts estimated the damage from the perpetrators’ actions at $190 million. White hat hackers helped the project recover over $32 million of the stolen amount.

The bridge was relaunched later that year.
