A 36-year-old resident of Novokuznetsk fell victim to cryptocurrency scammers and lost a total of about 850,000 rubles in an attempt to invest in cryptocurrency, according to the МВД.
The victim met a woman on a dating site who told him about earning from cryptocurrencies and offered help getting started on the exchange.
He was allegedly advised by her uncle. Following his instructions, the man registered on two sites and transferred funds to the account details provided by the criminals. Most of them were borrowed.
After that, the criminals stopped responding. Law enforcement opened a criminal case for fraud and began searching for suspects.
Earlier, Bitcoin scammers extorted from a Russian man 850 000 rubles over the phone.
