Nvidia RTX A2000 graphics card tested in Ethereum mining
The Nvidia RTX A2000 graphics card for workstations demonstrated a high hash rate in Ethereum mining. The experiment conducted by the YouTube channel Dizzy Mining.
The hash rate and power consumption of the card were 41 MH/s and 66 W, respectively. For comparison, researchers used data on the performance of the AMD Radeon RX 6600, which in Ethereum mining reaches around 30 MH/s.
The overclocking setup involved a core clock increase of 100 MHz and memory by +1500. The tests used devices manufactured by PNY.
The results were as follows:
- AMD RX 6600 XT (overclocked): 33 MH/s at 55 W (0.59 PPW)
- AMD RX 6600 Non-XT (overclocked): 30 MH/s at 50 W (0.61 PPW)
- Nvidia RTX A2000 (overclocked): 41 MH/s at 66 W (0.62 PPW)
RTX A2000 is based on the Ampere GA106 GPU. For operation the device uses 3,328 cores and 6 GB of GDDR6 memory, accessible through a 192-bit data bus. It also has 104 tensor cores and 26 RT cores.
The Nvidia RTX A2000 is set to go on sale in December. The recommended price is $649.99.
Earlier in August, photographs surfaced of the first specialized graphics card AMD for cryptocurrency mining. The unnamed device was produced by XFX. It is based on the 7nm Navi 21 GPU.
