Nvidia to Develop Humanoid Robots

Nvidia Corporation will focus on robotics in 2025, launching a new generation of compact Jetson Thor computers for humanoids, reports the Financial Times.

This anticipated move is part of a long-term strategy. The company does not aim to compete with robot manufacturers like Tesla. It is focused on providing new power technology to “hundreds of thousands” of bots.

Nvidia’s Vice President of Robotics, Deepu Talla, told FT that the current desire to venture into this new sector is linked to two technological breakthroughs: the significant growth of generative artificial intelligence models and the ability to train robots using simulated environments.

The partial shift in focus may also be related to the desire of Nvidia’s major clients, such as Amazon and Google, to reduce dependence on the AI chip manufacturer.

In 2024, AI became a growth catalyst for Nvidia.

In December, the firm introduced the Jetson Orin Nano Super—”its most affordable supercomputer” with generative artificial intelligence.
