OKEx rebrands to OKX to reflect Web3 ambitions

The digital asset exchange OKEx has rebranded to OKX to emphasise its commitment to the development of the crypto industry and the Web 3.0 ecosystem.

The company noted that it has already moved beyond its role as a centralized exchange—the Ex in the former name symbolising exchange.

According to the statement, the platform is developing new products for the global promotion of cryptocurrencies. Among those already launched: non-custodial wallet MetaX, NFT marketplace and the decentralised exchange OEC. The company is also exploring opportunities in the realms of metaverses and GameFi.

«We are building much more than a centralized exchange. It is time to develop our brand to reflect what we stand for and what we strive toward», the statement said.

OKX pledged to continue “the release of next-generation crypto products” with a view to building on those that already exist.

As reported, in October 2021 Facebook conducted a major rebrand. The new name—Meta—demonstrates a commitment to building the metaverse.

In December, the payments company Square changed its name to Block to reflect its focus on blockchain projects.
