OneCoin founder’s brother to testify against sister
The brother of the OneCoin founder, Ruji Ignatov, agreed to testify against his sister in exchange for exemption from the list of defendants in the investors’ civil suit. This was reported by Cointelegraph.
Under the terms of the deal, Konstantin Ignatov agreed to cooperate with the OneCoin investors who filed the suit and to testify in their favour if the case is brought to court.
Konstantin Ignatov was arrested in March 2019 at Los Angeles International Airport. Subsequently he pleaded guilty to several counts.
The U.S. government secured a postponement of his sentencing, saying that cooperation with him is not yet complete. Thanks to his testimony, the pyramid’s lawyer, Mark Scott, was found guilty of fraud and money laundering involving $400 million.
In July, two men involved in promoting the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid in Latin America were found dead in Mexico.
