OpenAI Introduces Business-Specific Customization for GPT-4o
The AI startup OpenAI has launched a new feature allowing GPT-4o to be tailored to the unique needs of individual companies.
This enables developers to optimize the flagship model for specific use cases by incorporating additional information.
For instance, a skateboard manufacturer could configure the neural network to function as a customer service chatbot, providing answers to business-specific queries such as board maintenance tips.
“Developers can now fine-tune GPT-4o using a set of custom data to achieve higher performance at lower costs for their specific use cases. Fine-tuning allows the model to adjust the structure and tone of responses or follow complex, domain-specific instructions,” the startup’s blog states.
To set up the process, corporate clients need to upload data to OpenAI’s servers. Training takes one or two hours, noted company developer John Allard.
The firm assured that business data will not be used to train other models or for any unintended purposes.
Initially, GPT-4o customization is available through text, with no support for images or other content.
Previously, OpenAI announced a partnership with Condé Nast to display content from major publications.
In August, the startup halted the use of ChatGPT by Iranian users to influence U.S. elections.
