OpenAI to Integrate Sora into ChatGPT

OpenAI is set to integrate the video generator Sora into its ChatGPT chatbot. This was announced by Rohan Sahay, head of neural network development, as reported by TechCrunch.

Currently, the tool is available only through a web application, allowing the creation of 20-second videos. The company plans to enhance the model’s capabilities and expand the number of integrations in the future.

Sahay did not specify the exact timeline for integration with ChatGPT. The tool’s functionality may also change during the implementation process.

Initially, Sora was not included in ChatGPT due to OpenAI’s desire to maintain the chatbot’s simplicity, explained the executive. He added that a separate mobile application for the video generator is planned, and the team is seeking developers.

Sahay noted that OpenAI aims to expand Sora’s capabilities in image creation. Although the company already has a solution based on the DALL-E 3 model, the video generator could make the works more photorealistic.

Back in December 2024, OpenAI released Sora to the public. The neural network creates videos from text prompts, “animates” images, extends existing videos, and fills in missing frames.

In August, it was revealed that Alibaba is working on Tora—a tool for video generation based on OpenAI’s solution.
