OpenSea warns of temporary outage of some features

The NFT marketplace OpenSea warned that during the final stage of migrating to the new smart contract some features may be unavailable.

In particular:

The platform team advised users not to take any action in relation to this — once the migration is complete, the active listings tab will function correctly.

OpenSea’s smart contract restart occurred on February 18, and the migration to it was due to be completed by February 25.

The update will provide users with some new options, including bulk cancellation of listings and more informative asset descriptions. The update will also deactivate all inactive listings on the marketplace.

An older vulnerability in the listing function of the previous smart contract allowed buyers to purchase expensive NFTs at undervalued prices, attackers exploited.

OpenSea compensated victims for losses totaling 750 ETH.

Soon after the migration began, an unknown attacker carried out a phishing attack on users of the platform, resulting in the theft of 253 NFTs, according to PeckShield. The marketplace team began investigating the incident.
