Opinion: Ethereum’s Layer-2 transactions surpass Bitcoin’s
On September 5, the daily number of transactions processed by Ethereum’s Layer 2 scaling solutions surpassed the same metric on the Bitcoin blockchain — about 250,000 versus about 210,000. The observation was shared by developer Evan Van Ness.
Fun fact:
There are already more daily transactions on Ethereum’s layer2 (~250k) than on Bitcoin (~210k yesterday per @coinmetrics) $ETH layer2 is just getting started

The expert said he was confident the trend was only beginning to gain momentum.
Van Ness cited figures from StarkWare (~143,000 transactions), Arbitrum (~56,000), and Optimism (~28,000).
The Ethereum advocate’s statement drew the ire of Bitcoin maximalists, who pointed to the lack of information about transaction activity on the Lightning Network.
Bitcoiners swarming my feed saying “wHy dOnT yOu iNcLuDe lIgHtNiNg?”
Show me the best data source. I looked, couldn’t find one
My impression given the low amount locked is that Lightning has very little traction but I’m happy if someone shows me data to the contrary

In response, Van Ness argued that he had not been able to find sources with reliable data of this kind. He said he would be willing to amend the statement if colleagues from the Bitcoin camp could help him.
Popular resources Bitcoin Visuals and 1ml do not provide such statistics.
Since the start of the year, the capacity of the Bitcoin Lightning Network for micropayments has grown by 125%, from 1,058 BTC to 2,382 BTC.
