Optimism overtakes Arbitrum in daily transaction count
On July 27, the daily transactions on the Ethereum Layer-2 network Optimism reached 944,000, outpacing Arbitrum.

L2-the rival protocol on the same day recorded only 658,000 transactions. Optimism surged into the lead for the first time since January 2023.

Likely, the surge in transaction volume is related to the recently launched project by Sam Altman, Worldcoin (WLD). In May, the startup announced the migration of its ‘gasless wallet’ World App and the decentralized World ID identification protocol from Polygon to the Optimism ecosystem.
Earlier in June, Optimism activated the Bedrock upgrade. Since then, the average transaction fee on the L2 network has fallen by 56%, from $0.57 to $0.16.
