Optimism team carried out airdrop of native token

Optimism distributed OP to 232,000 users as part of its airdrop.

The Optimism developers allocated the native OP token among 232,000 users of the L2 solution for scaling Ethereum.

After several hours of work we were able to stabilize the public RPC and we made the decision to “officially” announce Drop #1.

Participants in the airdrop received 231,928,234 OP — 5.4% of the initial supply. In total, along with subsequent rounds among users, 19% of the 4.29 billion token emission will be distributed.

The team released a step-by-step video with a guide for receiving OP.

Token holders will be able to delegate their voting rights to a community member or participate in voting themselves.

Nearly 30 proposals for Phase 0 have already been formed.

In the near future, participants in the Optimism collective token chamber will review the distribution of incentives among projects already interacting with the solution. If all proposals are approved, developers will collectively receive 36,600,000 OP (15% of the tokens in the governance fund).

In Phase 1, any projects that present a development plan using OP to stimulate growth will be eligible; they will share 85% of all tokens in the governance fund.

The community will also focus on growth-related issues such as protocol upgrades and reserve governance.

Earlier, trading platforms OKX, LBank and MEXC announced the listing of the Optimism token.

A listing on Binance is expected soon. Due to high network activity, there were some technical issues that led to the postponement of the listing on the platform.

The transactions have been rescanned and should all be completed at around 7am UTC.

The missing $OP deposits are expected to reflect in the users’ account after 7am UTC.

Earlier in May, developers removed 17,000 addresses from the airdrop.
