Orenburg region resident loses nearly 770,000 rubles in bid to profit from cryptocurrencies

Law enforcement agencies in the Orenburg region have opened a criminal case of fraud over the seizure of 767 000 rubles from a 66-year-old local resident on the pretext of investments in cryptocurrencies. This is reported on the сайте of the regional police department.

The victim found an online site advertising the possibility of profit through currency exchange. After registering on the site, an unknown person contacted him and promised income from selling cryptocurrencies.

As a result, the resident of the Orenburg region transferred a total of 767 000 rubles to the scammer in several installments.

The suspect faces up to six years in prison.

Earlier this year another resident of the Orenburg region lost more than 700 000 rubles after installing a cryptocurrency trading app.
